Clovis, CA JASON MEYERS LEADS 35 OF 40 AT RIVER CITIES BEFORE BEING SPUN

World of Outlaws Rain Out at Red River Valley Speedway

By Elite Racing PR

Leading the first thirty-five laps of a forty lap race at River Cities Speedway on Friday night, California World of Outlaws (WoO) driver Jason Meyers suffered as big of a disappointment has he has all season when spun out by another competitor as Meyers was battling for WoO victory number six on the young 2008 season.

GREAT NIGHT AT RIVER CITIES ENDS WITH BIG DISAPPOINTMENT

Arriving at the 3/10 mile high-banked River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, ND for night one of the Gerdau Ameristeel Duel in the Dakotas, Jason Meyers, driver of the GLR Investments, Charlie Garrett-powered KPC Chassis was confident that he would be able to make up some points on the leader in the WoO Championship Point Standings.

With an AMB i.t. timed lap of 9.895 seconds, Meyers would finish qualifying in third place and would take the checkered flag in his heat race. Going out for the Crane Cams Dash, the Elite Racing Team would earn the coveted pole position for the 40-lap A-Main event with a win in the dash.

Jumping out to the lead from the start, Meyers caught up with lapped traffic early in the race, on lap five, and maintained the lead through one caution and was fighting off Kerry Madsen to hold the lead position. Coming around to the line with five laps to go, Madsen tucked his nose under Meyers in turn four, Meyers got the lead back down the frontstretch, grabbed the real estate he wanted on the bottom of the track in turn one and was spun out, suffering damage to his machine when Madsen made additional contact with the KPC car. The Elite Racing Team members worked hard and were able to get Meyers back on the track, where he would finish a disappointing sixteenth.

"Words can't even begin to describe how frustrated and disappointed I am tonight," said the WoO driver. "We were really digging down deep to get win number six on the season and unfortunately that was taken away from us tonight. We don't like it, but it's the nature of the beast in sprint car racing and we'll get back in Victory Lane real soon."

MEYERS SETS QUICK TIME AT CEDAR LAKES SPEEDWAY

Setting quick time on Sunday evening at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisc., with an AMB i.t. timed lap of 11.138 seconds around the high-banked 3/8 mile oval, Meyers would utilize a third place finish in his heat to earn a spot in the Crane Cams Dash. Starting seventh in the Dash, Meyers would cross the line fifth, earning him a spot on the inside of the third row for the start of the A-Main event.

Spending most of the thirty-lap A-Main event running in the top five, Meyers would eventually cross the line sixth, which is definitely not where he wanted to finish.

"There is no question we want to get ourselves back on top of the World of Outlaws point standings and nights like tonight aren't going to help us do that," said a disappointed Meyers. "We have some tracks coming up on the schedule that traditionally we have run very solidly at, and will look to build up some points over the next few weeks."
